Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of The Wire (the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service in any way you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
The Wire compiles and presents information about executive movements and related professional events drawn from publicly available sources. The Service is provided for general informational purposes only and may be changed, suspended, or discontinued at any time without notice.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least sixteen (16) years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements.
3. Your Submissions
When you submit content of any kind — including an email address, a tip, a congratulatory message, a name, employer, or any other material (“Submissions”) — you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, fully sublicensable and transferable license to host, store, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, create derivative works from, publish, publicly perform, publicly display, distribute, and otherwise use the Submission for any purpose, commercial or otherwise, in any medium now known or later developed, without any obligation to compensate, credit, or notify you. You waive any moral rights to the maximum extent permitted by law. You represent that you have all rights necessary to grant this license.
4. Acceptable Use
You may not (a) scrape, crawl, harvest, mirror, or otherwise extract the Service in bulk by automated means; (b) reverse engineer or attempt to derive the source of any portion of the Service; (c) use the Service to build a competing product or train a machine learning model; (d) interfere with or circumvent any security, access control, or rate-limit; (e) misrepresent your identity or submit false information; or (f) use the Service in violation of any applicable law. We may suspend or terminate access for any reason at any time, with or without notice.
5. Intellectual Property
All right, title, and interest in and to the Service — including all compilations, datasets, layouts, designs, code, trademarks, and the look and feel — are and shall remain our exclusive property. No license is granted to you except the limited, revocable, non-transferable right to view the Service through a standard web browser for personal, non-commercial use.
6. Third-Party Services and Links
The Service may rely on or link to third-party services. We make no representations about those services and are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, or practices. Your use of any third-party service is at your sole risk.
7. No Warranty
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ANY INFORMATION ON THE SERVICE IS ACCURATE, CURRENT, OR FREE OF ERRORS.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, WHETHER BASED ON CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER THEORY, AND WHETHER OR NOT WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE U.S. DOLLAR (US$1.00).
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold us harmless from and against any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from or related to your use of the Service, your Submissions, or your breach of these Terms.
10. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may modify the Service or these Terms at any time, with or without notice, by updating this page. Your continued use of the Service after any change constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to all or part of the Service at any time, for any reason or no reason, without notice or liability. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
12. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the Service (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You irrevocably agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute or claim.
13. Severability and Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede all prior or contemporaneous understandings.
14. Contact
Questions about these Terms may be sent through the contact mechanisms on the Service.
